I was half-pinged for this meme by Dutch (though he DID officially end it, wise gypsy man) and decided to pick it up because it’s interesting to think some of these things through. I mean, how often do we think about what we can’t do or really set down on paper some goals to do before we die? And the “things we say most often”? That one was tough, ‘cause I’m not really listening to the shit coming out of mouth, you know what I’m saying?
Anyway. Anybody I pinged at the end please feel free to play or not, at your discretion (but I would love to hear what you have to say).
7 Things I Want To Do Before I Die:
- write and publish a book (or several) – (just like every other blogger; why don’t we set up a writer’s group so we’ll all actually start?)
- travel a lot more
- learn to weld
- learn to play drums
- go on an archaeological dig
- take my son hiking on the secret trails in Yosemite
- start dancing again
7 Things I Cannot Do:
- cook
- not be a smartass
- ski
- get excited about cleaning the bathroom no matter what new gadget they have
- give up on friends (even when they might deserve it)
- understand why the line, “Let’s not start sucking each other’s dicks just yet,” doesn’t translate to an office setting ( I could have used it SO many times!)
- put up with incompetent people in the workplace (I have some issues; it’s why I freelance)
7 Things That Attract Me to the Opposite Sex:
- intelligence (such a turn on!)
- confidence
- ambition/drive
- sense of humor
- ability to have fun (doesn’t take himself too seriously)
- good with kids/animals
- well-dressed (not all the time, but looking great every once in a while is very, very sexy… now you just sit there and look pretty)
7 Things I Say Most Often:
- Come here, you
- What are we doing for dinner?
- meow (this is a code word in our household)
- I’m sorry
- Umm…
- damnit!
- What’cha doin’ (insert baby or cat name here)?
7 Celebrity Crushes:
- Harrison Ford
- George Clooney
- Neil Gaiman
- Edward Norton
- Charlize Theron (she is such a strong chick!)
- The Rock – yum
- punk boys… so cute!
7 People I Want To Do This (Because I Want to See What They Say):
- Sandriux
- Finding Zen
- Childbearing Hipster
- The Phoenix
- The Ledge
- Chocolate Makes It Better
- and… OK, I can’t think of anyone else
Alright, I decided to add my own section. Because I wanted to and because there should be seven categories, shouldn’t there? If it’s gonna be all about sevens. I mean, that’s just basic mythos magic. So here you go.
7 Things I’m Thankful for:
- getting to watch my son everyday grow into a person of his own
- my babe, Keen Dad
- growing older (and maybe a little wiser)
- how great the kitty cats are doing with the baby
- school
- having a plethora of great music and books in the world
- the best friends a girl could have
I like the idea of a writer’s group. I noticed that there were a bunch of different webrings out there. I was thinking about starting one for writers…writers with a good sense of humor, of course.
It might be a good way to increase blog traffic for all of us, and also maybe share ideas and writing struggles. What do you think?
Who is Neil Gaiman???
Ok, so I will totally do this… but it is going to take me a little while. So please don’t think I am ignoring you. *grin*
Hey Phoenix, Neil Gaiman is a writer that I really like. (I don’t know if you could tell but I kind have a thing for those talented, smart guys.)
Matt, no worries! Can’t wait to see it. 🙂
aw. you tagged me! i am so flattered. here goes…
can you do a writer’s group over the internet?
Dutch & Phoenix – Sure, you can do a writer’s group via the internet. You can either set up a page where people post pieces for reading and make comments. Or you can just circulate pieces via email and then everyone makes comments on the word doc and sends them back. Usually it works best if you set up a schedule so everyone gets a turn (and sometimes you set up a moderator who just keeps everyone on schedule). I always work better if I have a deadline to keep. And sometimes a group is helpful because you get a lot of feedback or you can do writing exercises (such as everyone writes a story with 2 characters, a conflict, and in a hundred words) just to share your work and get back into the groove of writing.
(Obviously, I’ve done the writing group thing before, live and on the internet. My last internet group fell apart, though, because no one really liked the guy who started it! We had all been in a class with him and he was kind of an ass.)
If you two (or anyone else is interested) let me know, maybe we can organize something.
im a total slack ass and havent done my homework. bad BLOGGER BAD!
