I’ve decided to not watch the news for awhile. I need a break. This is due, in part, to a truly horrifying local event, which if it hasn’t hit national news yet I’m sure it will soon.
I’ve been doing a lot of putzing around tonight. (Because, you know, I had work to do. Sometimes you just gotta do that.) Then the baby woke up and I made the mistake of picking him up because I thought he was having a nightmare (not just wanting to play). He was much more interested in Cartoon Network than cuddles. Oh, lessons in parenting! Now I’m so tired I can barely see.
Anyway, this post will contain some random cartoon observations.
I really like Danny Phantom. I think Danny and Kim Possible should hook-up and have little superhero/ghost babies. Is that wrong?
Sometimes the Family Guy is just too weird, even for me. (And yet, Fooly Cooly I have no problem with.) How is it that this gets picked up again by Fox, but Futurama didn’t?
However… all hail Seth Green!
The new Boondocks cartoon is coming to Adult Swim. Yay! That’s the comic I read last every day in the paper… it’s my “dessert”.
Oh yeah, and American Dad? It’s just not funny. There, I said it.
sigh. I think I hear the kiddo finally drifting off. At least, if tonight’s activity was any indication, me and the kid will have something in common. – the weirdgirl
P.S. Forgive me for not linking all of the references. I’m just too tired. If you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, just ask. I’ll fill you in.
Boondocks is a pretty good comic. However, I quit reading the comics ever since Calvin and Hobbes stopped running.
Futurama was a really good cartoon. I thought it had a pretty strong following, so it was a surprise to me when they cancelled it.
Futurama is on Cartoon Network (Adult Swim) on my Direct TV. I know because I make the kids go to bed when it comes on (about 8 or so CA time – but I think the feed is from NY).
Our local horror story made the national news last night and again this a.m.
I sure hope they don’t just blame the mom and her family. I know it would be “convienent” since they hail from Oak-town, but that would be Bullshit, since the family was trying to get her help and Social Mis-Services screwed her over.
This is something that once again shows how freakin’ wrong our systems are; how if you are black, poor, and popping kids out when you are 13 you are already considered too far gone.
It kills me that we can spend so much money on a morally wrong war, to clean up “their side of the street” but we can’t, won’t, don’t care to fix what is wrong in our own backyard.
Wow, you are so right on about the cartoons! Family Guy is funny, but sometimes much weirder then Fooly Cooly; American Dad struggles to even get a chuckle; Futurama is wonderful (tear-jerking episodes… from a cartoon!)
But you know about Fooly Cooly! I fell in love with Fooly Cooly just because it was so radically different from other types of story-telling. But no one (I know) knows what the hell it is.
About the news… I’m not turning it on. *sigh* I just have other things to do today. Sounds sad/bad… (Yes, I am praticing avoidance…)
I know about the event of which you speak. Good for you for shutting off the news! You go girl!
And, I agree with you about American Dad.
Phoenix – I know, I totally miss Calvin and Hobbes too. 🙁
Matt – Yes! Fooly Cooly is very cool. I thoroughly enjoy it. And I know all about those tear-jerking Futuramas! (The one with the dog always gets me.)
Auntie & MIM – It’s a pure tragedy all around (I can’t imagine what that woman will feel when she goes back on her meds.) That’s why I’m avoiding the news. I just have to periodically shut it off.
