Long weekend, lots of people over the course of two days. It was fun (see picture – like the “devil eyes”? That’s a quotient of fun) but we’ve been trying to recover all day. And it’s frickin’ cold out!! I don’t know what it is about a cold day but I have a hard time not eating. Munch munch, all day long. And sitting around doing nothing. I’m supposed to be working, RIGHT NOW. But I’m not. I promise, I’ll get to it right after I’m done here. Yep, been saying that all day too.
I know last week was probably a bit more Mommy-centric than I usually am, but what can I say? I was excited about the birthday thing. Back to the regularly scheduled schizophrenia tomorrow. I also know that last post was pretty darn long, but don’t worry, I don’t think I have another one like that in me for a while. (Unless something really pisses me off and I have to indulge in another long rant. They really are indulgences for me, you know.) But the long post does bring me to my next subject.
I’ve been thinking about changing the look of my blog again. I toyed with this once before, early in my blog days. I like the black, but there’s nothing like a long, lazy, cold day where you can’t stop eating and you have no energy to remind oneself that you’re getting old. And not only old but lacking in good eyesight, too. (Gasp!) Trying to read my own dark posts after a long weekend and feeling my eyes straining themselves (besides the metaphysical symbolism), well it tells me something. I mean, besides being old. It tells me I may have to rethink the look of my blog.
So what I’d like to ask all of you out there is, what do you think? Is the black killing your eyes too?
Excuse me while I go get another cookie. – the weird “so easily pleased” girl
Love the pic! You are friggin adorable. Milf alert! And no, the black doesn’t bother me. I like it. 🙂

The white letters on black blackground is a bit of a strain on my eyes but your lettering does pop out more than some others so it isn’t as bad as some. My eyesight is getting worse with age but there is only one alternative to aging and I don’t care for it at all.
Glad to see that you had a great birthday party for the little one. Nothing like a first. That birthday cake looks cool.
I like your blog set up – I was thinking of changing mine totally too – but I just don’t feel like the Motherhood Uncensored thing would fly with a white background and pink columns 🙂
PS How’s it feel to have a toddler now? 🙂
Cute picture. Nice of dad (that is dad, right?) to do candle duty.
I find the white-on-black hard on the eyes. I can only read one post at a time, or it gives me a headache.
Too bad, because I like the look: it’s crisp and clean. But it does give me a headache.
White on black is a bit difficult to read when I’m tired. Maybe parchment color background with black lettering??? Just an idea.
Great pic. And the layout? I think it looks great!
what have i always said???
😉
black backgrounds really bother me…and lots of my blog ‘friends’ have black/dark backgrounds. I love the writing, just hard to read.
and i hate to say it…(b/c i would imagine it would drive me nuts…if i had a kid…and was told this)…but chance and keendad….well, i see the resemblence!!!! so cute!
good to see you for once!!!
Yes, see therein lies my problem… I love the overall look of the blog because it looks so clean (and what do you expect from a graphic designed template?), but I also have problems with the white on black. I think I will consult with my graphic artist friends. (I’m also NOT a white with pink columns girl.)
And yes… Chance has pretty much looked like his dad from day one! No chance of mailman babies around here. 😉
See, black with white font is my personal favorite look…but so many people had a hard time with it, I changed it up a couple of times. Now I have brown and most people like it – except Stella and Kristen who still can’t read it. 🙁
*wimper*
I like the white lettering on the black. It makes the font really pop.
By the way, great picture! You look just like how I imagined!
