Sometimes I feel like half my life is spent waiting for the baby to fall asleep so that I can take a shower. Damn power naps… foiled again! – wg
The first half of our lives is ruined by our parents, and the second half by our children. – Clarence Darrow (1857 – 1938)
I remember reading that darrow quote years ago and thinking it was a mere witticism. Now I realize how truly profound it was.
Love your site.
I just follow Dutch around from blog to blog and agree in assent. Just kidding. I love your quotes. These two are especially awesome.
That’s OK! I usually feel like I’m following you two and Adventure Dad around from blog to blog. It must come from only getting spare time at night and being on the west coast.
Thanks, I was especially struck by this quote’s sage wisdom too.
When my wife and I first brought our daughter home, we spent quite a lot of time trying to decide if we were forcing her to sleep or if she really wanted to. We felt like the only time we got anything done was when she was asleep and that maybe we were making her sleep when she didn’t need to… Then we gave up worrying. Or we quit talking about it. I’ll have to ask.
And now that I think about it, I was only able to shower today once my wife got home from work at 5:30 in the evening…
Somedays I feel like a bum… Other days I’m just glad I get a shower…
I love my son but it’s a damn nice feeling when he falls asleep. And if I skip the shower I can spend more time on the internet….
